Mentoring Programme

At Covington, we recognise the differences among us as an asset and a source of strength. We believe that excellence in the practice of law knows no racial, ethnic, gender, religious, sexual orientation, or other boundaries.

Our mentoring programme is open to all underrepresented groups, with the aim of increasing diversity within, and access to the legal profession.

Eligibility

Applications are open to students who meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants are eligible from the second year of a law degree or the final year of a non-law degree. Applicants should be on track for a 2.1 degree and have achieved grades ABB at A Level, we are happy to consider mitigating circumstances.
  • Applications are open to students from any underrepresented group (any multicultural background, students with disabilities, LGBTQ+, socially mobile students). We also welcome applications from other students who have faced adversity during their education.
  • Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in becoming a commercial solicitor
  • Applicants may not be participating in other mentoring programmes or already hold a vacation scheme or training contract offer.

Programme Overview

  • a launch event in our London office, providing an opportunity to meet your mentor and get to know the firm
  • a one-to-one mentoring relationship with a lawyer or trainee at Covington who will mentor you through the academic year
  • upskilling sessions throughout the programme to start developing the skills needed to become a successful lawyer
