Part I: The European Commission’s Perspective with Massimiliano Kadar

In this webinar, we will hear the regulator’s perspective and discuss the European Commission’s draft guidelines, published on 1 August 2024, on exclusionary abusive conduct by dominant firms under Article 102 TFEU.

Presenters

• Massimiliano Kadar is the head of Unit A.4 at the Directorate General for Competition (DG COMP) of the European Commission based in Brussels. He is in charge of coordinating the work of the European Competition Network (ECN) and shaping the Commission’s private enforcement policy. Massimiliano is leading the currently ongoing work on the draft guidelines on exclusionary conduct under Article 102 and the evaluation of the ECN-related provisions in Regulation 1/2003. An official at the European Commission since 2011, Massimiliano has broad experience in antitrust policy and cases in a large variety of sectors, with an emphasis on digital and technology markets.
• Kevin Coates advises clients on strategic antitrust and other government investigation issues drawing on twenty years of public sector experience in the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission ("DG COMP") and ten years of private sector experience as in-house counsel and in private practice.
  
  Kevin advises on all aspects of EU, UK and international competition law, including abuse of dominance, cartels, leniency, mergers, and compliance, as well as related EU regulations such as the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and Digital Services Act (DSA). He has extensive experience in technology, software and e-commerce sectors.
