'Change is Glacial': 4 Women on Being Leaders in the Legal Industry

Ursula Owczarkowski’s commentary was featured in a Q&A appearing in Law.com celebrating International Women’s Day. Ursula shares what drew her to law and the role of female lawyers in her practice area.

Ursula told Law.com, “I’ve always enjoyed problem solving, and a career in law offered the opportunity to problem solve as part of my day to day work! I fell into the energy sector by chance, having taken an opportunity to go on secondment as a newly qualified solicitor to an oil and gas company. Working in the oil and gas sector led to working in the energy sector which has progressed into working in the renewable energy sector, particularly as the energy transition has taken hold.”

Asked about what advice she has for young female lawyers, Ursula said to “be gender agnostic; focus on what you have to say and ignore that tiny little voice at the back of your head that says you do not fit in.”
