Ban on Non-Compete Agreements Sends Shockwave Across Wall Street

Christen Sewell’s commentary was included in a Financial Times article exploring how Wall Street businesses are adjusting to the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) ban on noncompete agreements. Christen observes that the ban will force companies to be more creative in how they are retaining key personnel.

Given that the ban does not impact confidentiality and non-solicitation agreements, a move designed to give companies other ways to protect private information, Christen says that “employers will certainly want to explore whether they’re using other tools as effectively as they could.”
