WASHINGTON, DC, January 13, 2015 — For the third consecutive year, Law360 named Covington’s life sciences practice one of the top “Life Sciences Practice Groups of the Year.”
Law360 recognized Covington for its “significant litigation wins and helping clinch big deals between pharmaceutical companies.” Among the matters highlighted were Covington’s handling of M&A and strategic partnering transactions, including representing AbbVie in structuring and negotiating a collaboration with the Google-backed life sciences company, Calico. Law360 also recognized the firm’s strength in the litigation area, noting important successes on behalf of Quest Diagnostics and Warner Chilcott in patent, commercial and products liability cases.
One of the largest and most comprehensive life sciences practices in the world, the group is comprised of more than 250 lawyers spanning three continents. “Covington's life sciences group continues to expand strategically, particularly in China and Korea, where the firm has added regulatory attorneys, as well as lawyers well equipped to help corporations navigate complicated and increasingly common government and regulatory issues in China,” said John Hurvitz, a co-chair of Covington’s life sciences practice group. “We are also continuing to focus on the industry's evolution in North America and Europe.”
After reviewing more than 680 submissions, a committee of Law360 editors selected winners for each practice area. Law firms were selected based on the significance, size and complexity of the matters they handled for clients over the past year.
