Alexander Berengaut Named One of Washington's Top Lawyers Under 40

WASHINGTON—Legal Bisnow has named Covington partner Alexander Berengaut to its 2016 “Top 40 Lawyers Under 40” list. 

Mr. Berengaut focuses on international arbitration, civil litigation, and government enforcement proceedings. He has experience handling a range of arbitral proceedings and U.S. court litigation matters, including at trial, and has significant experience in disputes involving cross-border issues.

He also regularly advises technology clients on national security and law enforcement-related compliance issues, including matters involving electronic surveillance and data privacy. Most recently, Mr. Berengaut has been involved in a series of cases for Microsoft related to government surveillance.

Mr. Berengaut also played a key role on the Covington team that prevailed in a high-profile arbitration against the Russian government related to the expropriation of the Yukos Oil Company.
