WASHINGTON—The Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) has awarded Covington a perfect score of 100 percent for the ninth consecutive year on its Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality. Covington is among 517 major U.S. businesses that earned a perfect score this year and will be recognized in HRC’s “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality” list.
“Covington is extremely proud to be recognized with a perfect score by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation,” said Timothy Hester, the firm’s chair. “This recognition reflects our long-standing commitment to creating an inclusive workplace for everyone.”
Covington’s 100-percent rating reflects the firm’s sexual orientation and gender identity non-discrimination protections, sexual orientation and gender identity training, and support for same-sex partners of lawyers and staff with health insurance, bereavement and family leave policies, as well as its contributions to LGBTQ community organizations.
“America’s leading companies and law firms remain steadfast and committed to supporting and defending the rights and dignity of LGBTQ people,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “The unprecedented expansion of inclusive workplaces across the country and around the globe not only reflects our progress, it helps drive it.”
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for LGBTQ people. For more information on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index, or to download a free copy of the report, please visit www.hrc.org/cei.
