Covington Prevails for Bombardier in Significant ITC Victory

WASHINGTON—Covington won a significant trade case today before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) on behalf of its client Bombardier.

In a 4-0 ruling, the ITC rejected Boeing Co.’s complaint that it was threatened with material injury by imports of Bombardier’s new C Series aircraft. The decision means that the U.S. Department of Commerce can no longer move forward with planned 300% import duties on the import of these jets. 

“Today’s decision is a victory for innovation, competition, and the rule of law,” Bombardier said in a statement. “It is also a victory for U.S. airlines and the U.S. traveling public.”

The Covington team was led by Peter Lichtenbaum, Shara Aranoff, Brian Smith, and William Isasi and included Maureen Browne, John Veroneau, James Smith, Victor Ban, Marta Cook, Ruchi Gill, Doron Hindin, Minwoo Kim, Ingrid Price, Isaac Belfer, and Vivian Choi.
