Three Covington Partners Among Top 100 Women Lawyers in California

LOS ANGELES—Covington partners Carolyn Kubota, Robyn Polashuk, and Sonya Winner have been named to the Daily Journal’s 2018 “Top 100 Women Lawyers” list, recognizing the “top women lawyers in California.”
Based in the firm’s Los Angeles office, Ms. Kubota is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has served as lead counsel on high-profile investigations, criminal trials, and commercial lawsuits with an undefeated record in over 20 trials. The Daily Journal highlights her role as co-lead national counsel for Johnson & Johnson in more than 600 opioid cases in federal and state courts, as well as lead counsel for the United States Olympic Committee in multiple cases related to alleged sexual abuse of former Olympic athletes.
Managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office, Ms. Polashuk's practice sits at the center of the pay-television evolution. She handles licensing and distribution of television networks and video programming across a variety of platforms, including cable, satellite, and "over the top" mobile and broadband technologies. The Daily Journal notes Ms. Polashuk’s representation of The Walt Disney Company, CBS, AMC Networks, the NFL, Fox Networks Group, Univision Communications, PBS, Ovation, TV One, and Star India in a variety of content-focused transactions over the past year.
Ms. Winner, resident in the San Francisco office, handles high-stakes civil cases for clients in a wide range of industries, including banking, pharmaceuticals, and professional sports. The Daily Journal notes her recent win on behalf of the NFL in a class action alleging that the NFL and its member clubs had unlawfully conspired to fix cheerleader compensation. The article also highlights her pro bono work with the Family Violence Appellate Project, an organization devoted to providing free, high-quality legal representation to domestic violence survivors.
