Leading Tax Lawyer Joins Covington

NEW YORK—Kevin Otero has joined Covington's Tax Practice Group as a partner in New York.

Mr. Otero advises clients on all aspects of tax controversy matters including audits, administrative appeals, transfer pricing controversies, and tax litigation. He also has extensive experience advising clients on technical tax risk management, strategic audit and litigation readiness, and the development of best practices and policies for tax departments.

Mr. Otero has led the defense of some of the most complex multi-year and multi-issue Internal Revenue Service audits in the country and has successfully resolved significant controversies during IRS audit, at IRS Appeals, and in litigation. His practice covers an array of technical tax areas including transfer pricing, financial products, foreign tax credits, renewable energy incentives, complex corporate restructurings, bad debt and worthless stock, tax-free dispositions, and valuation disputes.

Mr. Otero's tax litigation practice focuses on advising clients on litigation strategy and representation of clients in cases before the U.S. Tax Court, Court of Federal Claims, and federal district and appellate courts across the country.

Mr. Otero received his law degree from Columbia Law School and his undergraduate degree from Yale University.
