LOS ANGELES—The Daily Journal has named Robyn Polashuk, Clara Shin, and Sonya Winner to its 2019 “Top Women Lawyers,” recognizing the “top women lawyers in California.”
Ms. Polashuk co-chairs the firm's Communications and Media Industry Group and serves as managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office. Her practice focuses on the licensing and distribution of television networks and programming content across a variety of platforms, including cable and satellite, IPTV, mobile, and Internet. The article highlights her role in Viacom’s purchase of online streaming platform Pluto TV and Walt Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. This is the fifth consecutive year the Daily Journal has recognized Ms. Polashuk.
Ms. Shin is a first-chair trial lawyer who specializes in intellectual property and complex commercial disputes. She also co-chairs the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group, which The American Lawyer recently named as the California Litigation Department of the Year. The article notes some of her recent work including an investigation of sexual misconduct at a San Francisco Bay Area private school, defending Eli Lilly in a $1.5 billion trade secret case, and representing pro bono client Leigh Corfman in a defamation suit against former Alabama U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore. Ms. Shin was previously recognized on the “Top Women Lawyers” list in 2017.
Co-chair of the firm’s Class Action Litigation practice, Ms. Winner handles high-stakes civil cases for clients in a wide range of industries, including banking, pharmaceuticals, and professional sports. She has handled numerous antitrust and consumer disputes in state and federal courts across the country. Her cases typically involve difficult technical issues and/or complex legal and regulatory schemes. The Daily Journal noted a “momentous victory” for Well Fargo in an appellate ruling regarding arbitration clauses as well as her representation of McKesson in the massive opioid litigation consolidated in Ohio. Ms. Winner’s has appeared ten times on the “Top Women Lawyers” since 2007.
