Former SDNY Prosecutor Joins Covington

NEW YORK—Amanda Kramer, former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, has joined Covington’s White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice in New York as a partner.
Ms. Kramer served for more than 11 years as a federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York. Most recently, she served as a senior member of the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force, where she investigated, prosecuted, and tried several high-profile complex white collar cases, including those involving securities and commodities fraud, insider trading, investment advisor fraud, honest services fraud, wire fraud, and health care fraud. She also investigated and prosecuted international and domestic money laundering, public corruption, tax fraud, IEEPA violations, art fraud, and cybercrime, among other offenses. Before focusing on securities fraud, Ms. Kramer served as SDNY’s Project Safe Childhood and Human Trafficking Coordinator, where she developed and significantly expanded SDNY’s work handling sexual misconduct and trafficking issues, an undertaking for which she received several awards. Ms. Kramer’s extensive litigation experience includes leading twelve federal jury trials and multiple appellate arguments before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Ms. Kramer graduated from Fordham University Law School and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland. She previously served as a law clerk for Judge Loretta Preska in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and currently teaches advanced trial advocacy at Fordham Law School.
