PALO ALTO— Covington has been honored by the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County with The Guardian of Justice Award, given each year in recognition of volunteers whose efforts are steeped in a commitment to justice for children, families, and seniors.
Founded in 1959, the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County provides free legal representation in a variety of civil matters to low-income members of the community.
Over the years, dozens of Covington lawyers have successfully preserved people’s housing, helped survivors of domestic violence obtain restraining orders, and ensured that parents can make critical legal and medical decisions for their developmentally disabled children.
Since its founding in 1919, Covington has maintained a strong commitment to public service. The firm encourages all of its lawyers to participate in pro bono work and devotes significant resources to finding pro bono projects that reflect the diverse interests of its lawyers. Covington’s pro bono work is anchored in meeting local needs and serving economically disadvantaged individuals and families in our surrounding communities, but the firm also has a long history of serving vulnerable clients and important causes throughout the U.S. and the world.
