SHANGHAI—Global Investigations Review has named Covington’s Helen Hwang to its 2021 “Women in Investigations” list, highlighting 100 exceptional women in the white-collar world. GIR previously recognized Nancy Kestenbaum in 2015 and Sarah Crowder in 2018.
Helen focuses her practice on counseling clients through complex and sensitive anti-corruption internal investigations and investigations by government enforcement authorities, such as the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and Asia-based regulators. Helen co-leads the firm’s Asia compliance and investigations practice. She also serves as the Shanghai lead for the firm’s Women’s Forum.
In Helen’s GIR profile, she shares: “At the end of the day, I love helping clients handle their hardest problems, whether it involves enhancing a less-than-ideal compliance program or advocating on their behalf in front of less-than-friendly enforcement officials or important stakeholders. I find it immensely satisfying to understand the context and nuance of a problem, and strategize how to present the narrative in the best way to an audience to get the best outcome for the client.”
