Six Covington Partners Named Law360 MVPs

Hunter Bennett was recognized for defending a $536 million classified CIA contract and a $430 million assignment at a U.S. Navy underwater research facility. Hunter regularly represents government contractors in bid protests before the Government Accountability Office and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Alex Berengaut was recognized for a high-profile win for TikTok and its parent company, blocking in federal court the Trump administration’s attempt to ban the app. Alex is an experienced litigator who represents clients in commercial disputes and government enforcement proceedings. He currently represents several leading technology companies in litigation and compliance matters relating to data privacy, cybersecurity, and electronic surveillance. Beth Brinkmann was recognized for helping win two preliminary injunctions against the Trump administration. One halted an effort to ban the mobile app TikTok, and the other halted a rule that would have linked Medicare reimbursement for dozens of drugs to prices paid in other countries. Beth co-chairs Covington’s Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Group. In 2019 she argued her 25th case before the Supreme Court, and regularly argues in appellate courts across the country. Heather Finstuen was recognized for securing CFIUS approval for Peugeot and Fiat Chrysler's $52 billion merger. She has extensive experience advising clients on cross-border investment and related national security matters, as well as leading internal investigations and responding to U.S. government civil and criminal investigations. Michael Hill was recognized for leading the Covington team advising the NFL on its TV and digital distribution agreements with Amazon, CBS, ESPN/ABC, FOX, and NBC. Michael primarily advises media and technology companies in connection with a broad array of commercial and corporate transactions. Ashley Simonsen was recognized for helping Facebook fend off a class action accusing the company of charging advertisers for bogus clicks and helped student loan servicer Navient resolve a class action over loan payments.
