Chambers 2022 D&I Awards Names Covington Outstanding Veterans Program

WASHINGTON—Covington was named as the Outstanding Veterans Program at the Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards: North America 2022. The award celebrates efforts to remove barriers for, and increase representation of, military personnel in the workplace.
“Covington’s commitment to pro bono representation of servicemenbers and veterans is longstanding. Providing quality legal services for those who have served is rewarding personally and professionally,” said Ben Block, co-chair of Covington’s Veterans’ Affinity Group.
In selecting Covington, Chambers cited the firm’s Veterans’ Affinity Group with its “holistic approach to supporting veterans in the firm and community.” Chambers also noted Covington’s support for law school veterans’ organizations and the “over three dozen attorneys with prior US military service and another 18 US veterans who will be joining the firm in the next year or two.” Additionally, the “hundreds of Covington attorneys worked over 20,000 hours on [nearly 100] veteran-related matters” contributed to the firm’s selection.

We have also developed programs, including our mentorship program, which ensures a smooth transition from public service and continued professional success in the private sector," said Veterans’ Affinity Group co-chair Michele Pearce. "Hiring veterans is a priority at Covington. We understand the tremendous value veterans deliver as both leaders and team members," added group co-chair Micaela McMurrough.
Covington’s Veterans’ Affinity Group recruits attorneys with prior military experience and supports them in their careers; encourages attorneys to take on pro bono matters on behalf of veterans/veterans-related issues; and provides a forum for veterans (and spouses/significant others of veterans) to connect with each other.
