October 17, 2022
NEW YORK—Nancy Kestenbaum was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at Corporate Counsel's "Women, Influence & Power in Law" awards. Recipients of this award were recognized for their transformative legal leadership.
Nancy's profile highlighted her past legal experience as an Assistant United State Attorney in the Southern District of New York and her career at Covington, where, she has been "fortunate to do work I love, for terrific clients and with wonderful colleagues." Over the past six years, Nancy's career took on a new dimension as she "began leading investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct, cultural reviews and, more recently, civil rights audits, as well as handling more 'traditional' white collar investigations."
When looking back, Nancy realized that in additional to developing her skills as a lawyer, relationships are also important. As Nancy stated, "Relationships matter at least as much as one's abilities and experience--relationships with your peers, relationships with more senior people and, equally important, relationships with more junior folks."
Nancy concludes that "It's important for lawyers, for women lawyers especially, to realize that career success comes not just from doing excellent work, but from putting yourself out there."
With more than 30 years’ experience as a defense attorney and former federal prosecutor, Nancy has represented clients ranging from the largest multi-national companies to individuals in high-stakes criminal and civil enforcement investigations by the United States Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, and other federal, state and local criminal and civil regulatory agencies.
