WASHINGTON—Latin Lawyer named Covington as a Deal of the Year winner in the “Mergers & Acquisitions-public” category for its role counseling Univision on antitrust, FCC, and national security regulatory matters in its $4.8 billion merger with Mexico’s Televisa. The transaction merged most of Televisa’s content and production assets into Univision, creating the world’s leading Spanish-language media company.
The Covington team was led by Matt DelNero, Jim O’Connell, and Jonathan Wakely, and included Jacob Crump, Irina Danescu, Alison Wall, and Marie Hanewinckel.
Covington was also recognized on Latin Lawyer’s Deal of the Year shortlist in the “Mergers & Acquisitions-private” category for advising the seller group in the sale of a 49% ownership stake in Prisma Medios de Pago, Argentina’s largest payments processing company, to Advent International.
