Latinvex names Clovis Trevino, Laura Bleier, and Leah Saris as Rising Stars in Latin America

NEW YORK—Latinvex has named Clovis Trevino, Laura Bleier, and Leah Saris as 2024 Rising Legal Stars in Latin America, which “singles out 25 rising stars at international law firms doing business in the region.” The criteria for selection was scope and prominence of work and future potential. Covington is one of only two firms with three lawyers recognized in the ranking, including the sole lawyer recognized in the FCPA & Fraud category.
Clovis Trevino is a partner in the firm’s International Arbitration practice group. She represents clients in the resolution of high-stakes, cutting-edge disputes before international courts and tribunals. Her practice focuses on public international law and international commercial and investment arbitration. She also serves as counsel in arbitration-related litigation and advises investment firms and asset managers in evaluating investments in international claims or arbitration awards. Clovis’s recent experience includes advising Legacy Vulcan in a $1.9 billion investment arbitration against Mexico under the North American Free Trade Agreement and subsidiaries of Mexican food conglomerate Gruma in an investment arbitration against Venezuela over the expropriation of food production assets.
Laura Bleier is an associate in the Corporate practice group. She advises clients on domestic and cross-border corporate transactional matters, including private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity transactions, financings, and restructurings. Laura is a dual-licensed attorney in New York and Colombia and has extensive experience advising on transactions in Latin America. Her recent experience includes advising Merck on the $9 billion spin-off of Organon & Co., its business unit focused on women’s health, which has been listed on the NYSE, and Prisma Medios de Pago, Argentina’s leading payments company, on its sale of a controlling stake to Advent International, in a transaction that valued the company at $1.42 billion.
Leah Saris is an associate in the Anti-Corruption / FCPA practice group. She represents corporations in cross-border internal and government investigations related to anti-corruption laws, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. She also helps clients develop anti-corruption compliance programs and routinely assists companies with anti-corruption due diligence for proposed mergers and acquisitions. Her recent experience includes advising a multinational corporation in an FCPA investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission relating to the company’s operations in several Latin American countries. She also advised a multinational conglomerate in designing and implementing a compliance program following a multi-billion dollar merger and conducting a deep-dive risk assessment of the incoming business.
