WASHINGTON—The International Refugee Assistance Project recognized Covington as an Excellent Pro Bono Partner honoree during its fourth annual Pro Bono Appreciation week.
Covington is a longtime partner of IRAP, and the firm has helped a number of refugees with their immigration proceedings and assisted IRAP with FOIA litigation. Over the last year, Covington has undertaken a number of mandamus litigation matters seeking to reunite refugee families separated by delays in adjudication of their petitions.
“Working with IRAP allows us to use our legal skills to help our clients—some of the bravest and most resilient individuals imaginable—as they navigate an uncertain and complex journey. It is a privilege to be part of this life-changing work to help our clients achieve lasting safety and stability, reunification with their families, and the promise of a new beginning,” Mary Burner, Deputy Pro Bono Counsel, said.
Covington has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service. The firm is frequently recognized for pro bono service, including 12 times being ranked the number one pro bono practice in the U.S. by The American Lawyer. Much of the firm's pro bono work is anchored in meeting local needs, serving economically disadvantaged individuals and families in our surrounding communities, in addition to its long history of serving vulnerable clients and important causes throughout the U.S. and the world.
