    Megan Rodgers is a partner in Covington’s litigation practice who focuses her practice on high-stakes complex litigation in federal and state courts, with a particular focus on mass torts and class actions in the technology and life sciences industries.

    Megan is known for navigating especially complex cases and successfully taking cases from pre-trial through jury verdicts. As a member of multiple trial teams, she has experience conducting trial examinations, arguing directed verdict and other dispositive motions, preparing expert and fact witnesses for deposition and trial, presenting in jury exercises, and developing case strategy. Most recently, she defended a pharmaceutical distributor against mass tort claims alleging public nuisance in a six-month bench trial in the opioids litigation. As a class action litigator, Megan uses her trial experience to shape strategy early on in a way that sets clients up for success at the class certification stage.

    Megan was recently named a "Lawyer on the Fast Track" by The Recorder, recognized by the Daily Journal in its “Top 40 Under 40” feature, and named a "Rising Star" by Law360.

    • Serving as trial counsel for a major pharmaceutical distributor in complex, multi-district opioids civil litigation alleging public nuisance claims and involving parallel state and federal proceedings. Secured favorable resolution after a six-month bench trial brought by state Attorney General.
    • Representing technology companies in privacy and data breach class actions.
    • Defeated certification of a damages class in representation of Expedia, Hotels.com, and Orbitz.com.
    • Represented Meta in defense of two high-profile class actions brought by content moderators employed by Meta’s vendors in California and Florida courts. Won motion to dismiss Florida case with prejudice; secured final approval of novel four-state class settlement in California case.
    • Represented animated film studios in putative class action in the Northern District of California alleging agreements among companies not to “cold call” each other’s employees.
    • Represented a U.S. government contractor in a week-long hearing arguing that a foreign judgment should not be enforced.
    • Member of trial team representing BP in civil litigation arising from the Deepwater Horizon incident in the Gulf of Mexico in the multi-phase litigation in the Eastern District of Louisiana (MDL 2179) and the securities class action litigation in the Southern District of Texas (MDL 2185).
