    Yashveer Ram is a South African qualified energy, projects and infrastructure legal specialist. He is based in the Johannesburg office and a member of the firm’s Project Development and Finance practice group. Yashveer's practice focuses on international and local energy, infrastructure and public-private partnership projects. He also advises on general finance, corporate and commercial, and public law matters.

    Yashveer has previously acted for and advised numerous international and local private sector, sponsor and financing parties on several complex public private partnership, infrastructure and energy transactions. He also has extensive experience in advising various government and parastatal entities on many of these types of transactions. Yashveer is experienced in negotiating and drafting project, finance and corporate agreements, including, public private partnership agreements, power purchase agreements, EPC and O&M agreements, general finance, shareholders’ and other related agreements.

    • Advised the South African Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE), National Treasury and the Development Bank of Southern Africa in relation to the various independent power producer procurement programmes established by the DMRE, including the Renewable Energy IPP Procurement Programme and the Baseload Coal IPP Procurement Programme.
    • Advised the private party concessionaire companies on various project, financing, corporate and commercial matters in connection with their public private partnership and related project agreements with the South African Department of Trade, Industry and Competition and the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation.
    • Advising an international sponsor in connection with a project awarded under the South African Department of Mineral Resources and Energy’s Risk Mitigation Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme on various matters, including with the preparation and negotiation of the main project and corporate documentation.
    • Advising an international organization hosted by the African Development Bank, in connection with the development of various renewable energy projects in the Republic of Botswana and the Republic of Zimbabwe.
    • Advised a multi-donor international funding organization in connection with financing, negotiation, due diligence and other related aspects in respect of a number of energy, infrastructure and debt restructuring transactions/projects across Sub-Saharan Africa.
