Kaveh V. Saba is a trial lawyer who specializes in patent litigation, with extensive experience before U.S. district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In particular, Kaveh has substantial experience in pharmaceutical patent litigation brought under the Hatch-Waxman Act, as well as in patent litigation involving electronics and biotechnology.
Kaveh's trial experience includes eleven patent infringement trials before both judges and juries, in which he has prepared and conducted nearly twenty direct and cross-examinations of expert and fact witnesses, delivered an opening statement on behalf of a pioneer pharmaceutical company, and successfully argued numerous pre-trial and evidentiary motions.
In addition to his litigation work, Kaveh regularly counsels clients on intellectual property issues in transactional and pre-litigation matters involving pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, electronics, and mechanical device technologies.
Kaveh has also represented pro bono clients in a variety of criminal and civil matters, including successfully representing a criminal defendant in a jury trial in Maryland state court and obtaining asylum for a client in an evidentiary hearing before a federal immigration judge.
