Scott Schrader has over 25 years of experience guiding clients through complex high-stakes disputes, with a particular expertise in cross-border intellectual property disputes and cases involving complex technical issues. He has handled cases at all stages of the dispute resolution process, from the inception of litigation through trial and appeals, in jury and bench trials, and before U.S. district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission, and arbitral fora. Currently based in the firm’s Seoul office, Scott has been recognized as a Chambers (Global) Band 1 lawyer for Intellectual Property practice among International firms in South Korea.
Since the mid-1990s, Scott has worked extensively with Korean companies and foreign companies focused on the Asia-Pacific region. Chambers describes him as a “highly regarded litigator” who “provides an expert handling of patent infringement litigation and investigations brought before the US International Trade Commission.”
In addition to handling intellectual property disputes, Scott has defended clients in shareholder derivative actions, securities litigation, insurance coverage claims and lender liability claims, as well as disputes over license and distribution agreements, lease agreements, credit agreements and letters of credit. He has also defended numerous individuals and institutions in regulatory and criminal enforcement proceedings. Scott also frequently counsels clients on intellectual property issues arising in business transactions, including acquisitions and investments in the life sciences area in particular.
Scott is a registered U.S. patent attorney, and he has also been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer in the area of Intellectual Property Litigation. Before becoming a lawyer, Scott was an electrical engineer, designing components for complex radar systems, including a low noise amplifier module for which he won the George Westinghouse Signature Award of Excellence.
