Volodymyr Shkilevych is an international dispute resolution lawyer in the firm’s international arbitration and litigation practice groups. Volodymyr represents both states and corporate clients in complex international disputes, drawing upon his expertise in public international law, investment, and trade matters. In addition to his dispute work, Volodymyr advises clients on a range of compliance issues arising under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”) and other anti-bribery regimes.
Volodymyr counsels sovereign States in disputes before the International Court of Justice, the International Tribunal on the Law for the Sea and ad hoc arbitral tribunals in matters involving human rights, use of force, sovereignty claims, maritime and land boundary delimitation, treaty interpretation, etc. He also represents both states and corporate clients in investment disputes before arbitration institutions.
In the FCPA area, Volodymyr advises clients on compliance issues that arise under anti-corruption laws, including the FCPA, and represents corporations and individuals in cross-border investigations and enforcement proceedings.
Prior to joining Covington, Volodymyr occupied various senior legal positions at the Ukrainian Diplomatic Service, where he was involved in treaty negotiations, matters of international trade, litigation entailing jurisdictional immunities of Ukraine and its agencies, and international dispute settlement.
