WASHINGTON—Leading competition law publication Global Competition Review has once again named Covington’s Global Competition Team in its 2023 "Global Elite," a list of the top 25 firms practicing competition law internationally. Covington was also included among GCR’s top ten Global Elite Merger Rankings and was singled out in several jurisdictions, including in the "Outstanding" category in Washington, in the "Highly Recommended" list for Belgium, and the "Recommended" list in California and the United Kingdom.
Now in its 23rd year, GCR100 undertakes extensive analysis of antitrust and competition law groups in 57 jurisdictions around the world. Rankings of firms in each jurisdiction are based on independent research conducted through GCR's annual questionnaire and call for submissions, as well as interviews with lawyers.
The research highlighted Covington's work "on some of the world’s most closely watched deal reviews," including advising Discovery on its sale to WarnerMedia, Salesforce on its acquisition of Slack, and advising Illumina on its €6.8 billion merger with GRAIL.
GCR also cited Covington's "busy private litigation practice," including advising Citi and JP Morgan on several follow-on damages matters before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York that stem from financial services cartel cases, and defending the National Football League and its member clubs in an antitrust suit brought by the city of Oakland over the NFL’s approval of the team’s relocation to Las Vegas.
GCR also noted, "The firm’s confidential caseload is equally as impressive as its public work."
Covington’s Antitrust & Competition practice group regularly guides clients through the complex web of antitrust and competition laws to help them secure their most important business objectives by providing regulatory insight, litigation and investigation representation, and transactional support.
