WASHINGTON— For the tenth consecutive year, Global Competition Review named Covington’s Global Competition Team as part of its Global Elite 2024, a list of the top 25 firms practicing competition law internationally. Covington was also singled out in several jurisdictions, including in the "Outstanding" category in Washington, in the "Highly Recommended" category for Belgium, and "Recommended" category for Brussels, California, and the United Kingdom.
Noting that much of the firm's caseload is confidential, the research highlighted arrivals of partners Lauren Willard (Washington), Kate Patchen (San Francisco), Christian Ahlborn, and Sibel Yilmaz (Brussels), and noted a number of key matters across the firm's offices, including:
- defense of the National Football League against antitrust allegations from DirecTV subscribers in California;
- guiding UCB through the US and German antitrust aspects of its purchase of Zogenix;
- advising professional services company Accenture on its acquisition of Eclipse;
- defense of DPG Media against challenges by a rival media group and an advertiser opposing its €250 million purchase of RTL Belgium, and
- steering AstraZeneca through its $1.8 billion acquisition of CinCor Pharma.
Covington’s Antitrust & Competition practice group regularly guides clients through the complex web of antitrust and competition laws to help them secure their most important business objectives by providing regulatory insight, litigation and investigation representation, and transactional support.
