Washington—Covington was named the overall winner in the “Crisis Management and Government Oversight” category of the 2024 National Law Journal Awards, which “recognizes firms that have guided clients through government proceedings in Washington, D.C.”
The award recognizes Covington for its cross-practice work guiding clients through some of the most consequential crises and government investigations over the past year, including a declination for Proterial Cable America in a Department of Justice investigation and several high-profile and politically charged congressional investigations.
Steve Fagell, co-chair of Covington's White Collar Defense and Investigations practice, stated in the National Law Journal Q&A, "Time and time again, we protect our clients from and resolve high-stakes government investigations."
Rob Kelner and Brian Smith, co-chairs of Covington's Congressional Investigations practice, added, "At Covington, we are able to incorporate regulatory subject-matter experts in our investigation teams because of our deep bench and wide range of regulatory lawyers that have spent decades building credibility with investigators and congressional committees."
The 2024 National Law Journal Awards winners were named on October 24.
