NEW YORK– IJGlobal, an infrastructure and energy news and data service, has awarded Energia Mayakan’s natural gas pipeline project the Oil and Gas Deal of the Year award for Latin America, highlighting Covington’s advisory role in securing financing for the project in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.
The Mayakan Natural Gas Pipeline aims to ensure a reliable natural gas supply for energy generation, driving economic development and potentially lowering electricity costs for millions of consumers. Designed to transport approximately 250 million cubic feet per day (MMcfd), the pipeline will serve six major power plants and industrial customers in Tabasco, Campeche, and Yucatan. Additionally, a new 700 km pipeline will extend the existing infrastructure, enabling the transportation of over 567 MMcfd and connecting Campeche, Chiapas, Tabasco, and Yucatan.
The term loan facilities in a total amount of $2.125 billion were provided by a group of 13 international lenders.
