Sports Business Journal Names Covington Among Top Four Law Firms
October 25, 2021
WASHINGTON—The Sports Business Journal has named Covington among the top four sports law practices in its “Power Players: Outside Counsel” list. Covington was included in the “Platinum” category, “representing the most prominent tier in sports law” who have “strong history, recognized leadership and scores of attorneys with experience across all sectors of the industry.”
In its article, SBJ featured several of the firm’s leading sports law practitioners, including Libbie Canter, Doug Gibson, Stuart Irvin, Derek Ludwin, Neema Sahni, Jeremy Spector, and Peter Zern. It also recognized Gregg Levy and Paul Tagliabue as senior statesmen and Ben Block, Stacey Grigsby, Brent Little, Lauren Ross, and Adrian Perry as others active in the practice. SBJ notes that: “Covington’s representation in sports spans all sectors of the industry for leagues and governing bodies, teams, college conferences, TV networks, entertainment studios, esports game publishers and more.”
SBJ first recognized Power Players in outside counsel in 2016 and named Covington to its inaugural list. To generate its list of firms, SBJ spoke to a large number of leaders across the industry — largely legal, team, league, property, sports betting, technology and esports stakeholders — for their thoughts on the firms that stood out for their representation in sports business.
