June 13, 2022
NEW YORK—Uri Doron and Jared Manes have joined Covington as partners and co-chairs of the firm’s Nordic Initiative and as members of the Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity practice groups. They will be based in the firm’s New York office.
Uri and Jared have worked closely together for over a dozen years and focus their practice on advising corporate, private equity, and pension fund clients, mostly located in the Nordics, on transactions and other aspects of doing business in the United States and around the world. They have experience across a wide variety of industries, including, in particular, industrials, TMT, financial services, life sciences, and retail/consumer goods.
“Uri and Jared’s unmatched knowledge and experience working with Nordic-based clients presents us with a unique opportunity to grow our Nordic Initiative and become the go-to firm for Nordic companies looking for legal assistance outside of the region,” said James Gubbins, co-chair of Covington’s Nordic Initiative. “We look forward to offering our firm’s industry-leading practices, including corporate/M&A, life sciences, technology, international trade, CFIUS, competition, and white collar and compliance, among others, to their clients.”
“Uri and Jared’s client base is synergistic with and complementary to our Nordic Initiative,” said Einar Stole, co-chair of Covington’s Nordic Initiative. “Through a strategically focused approach, they have built a vibrant practice acting on transactional and other matters for Nordic companies, adding another dimension in serving our clients in the Nordic region.”
"Over the last several years, Nordic private equity, strategic acquirers, and pension funds have looked outside the region to broaden their investment portfolio,” stated Catherine Dargan, chair of Covington’s corporate practice. “Uri and Jared's experience advising Nordic companies and funds on their outbound deal work will greatly enhance our practice, and we believe Covington's depth of substantive practices will benefit those clients, especially in highly-regulated industries."
“Our joining Covington is a unique opportunity to combine our respective efforts advising Nordic-based companies and cooperate with a like-minded team of top-notch lawyers who see the strategic benefit of such a focused approach,” said Uri.
“The collaborative culture of Covington is extremely attractive to us and we look forward to the opportunity to knit ourselves and our clients into Covington,” said Jared. “Given this and the talented lawyers across practice groups, we are excited to expand the capabilities that will now be available to our clients and contacts in the region.”
Uri received his B.A. and LL.B from Tel Aviv University and an LL.M from the New York University School of Law.
